Lowes Custom Bathroom Countertops

Now that we've finished our master bathroom reveal  I want to share how we found a custom vanity top on a budget and help inspire your remodel with low cost bathroom ideas.  After two years of living with this hideous 1986 plastic counter thing, I'm sure you can understand why I was so excited to pick a new one.

I knew that we would need a custom  top because of the width of the vanity. It is almost 90 inches wide and there was no way we were going to find a stock top. I shopped around and went to a few high end kitchen and bath stores. I received estimates over $5,000. My entire bathroom budget was $5500, so that wasn't going to work for us.

I visited one of the other home improvement stores and they told me they couldn't make me a vanity top unless I spent $5,000 in the store bathroom materials and had them install them. Wait, what!? I moved on quickly.

Our next stop was Lowe's, and it was so easy I wanted to share here with you.

How to Order a Lowe's Custom Vanity Top on a Budget

During our first visit we were able to look at all of the options for the counter and talk about the Lowes bathroom vanity ordering and installation process. After deciding to move forward with an estimate we paid $30 for a Lowe's contractor to measure the space. That fee is deducted from your order later. At this point you aren't obligated to order.

This measuring appointment was very easy but also very helpful. My husband was going to do some of the plumbing and the contractor was able to tell him what he needed to do to get ready for the installation. The contractors are also able to tell you if they can install the counter and faucets easily or if there is anything that has to be moved first. Since our vanity was from 1986, and counter height has changed, some pipes needed to be moved. Lowe's needs all of this information to give you pricing.

Meet with Lowe's Bath Associate to Finalize Choices

After Lowe's received all of the info from their contractor we went back for our final meeting. During that session we made our final counter and faucet selections.

We chose a cultured marble top which is less expensive than granite or marble.

There were many different selections to customize the vanity top. They had several sink styles including rectangles and circles. We had a choice between a sink that matched the counters or white. We chose the double sink vanity top with an oval white sink. Without seams it is so easy to clean!

If you purchase your faucets at Lowe's the installation of the faucets is included in the vanity installation. We chose these Moen faucets because they looked farmhouse style.

I also chose a thicker edge cut to the front of the vanity, for a fee (Around $100). The thicker edge really made it look more like a piece of marble. The bath associate was able to show us all of our selections on the computer, which really helped with decisions.

Once we were all set with our selections we paid and the counter was ordered. The selection and ordering process took about an hour.

Counter Installation

Since this bathroom vanity was a three wall install and one small mistake could cost us a lot of money, we chose to have Lowe's install the bathroom vanity top. Lowe's installation only costs $220 which was worth the peace of mind. Once the vanity top was made and arrived at the store they called me to set up the installation appointment. It only took a couple hours for the installation of the counter and faucet. Then we couldn't use it for 24 hours while it set.

We love this vanity top! The total for the counter, sinks, faucets, and installation was only $1357. The choices were amazing, the ordering and installation process was incredibly easy and it looks beautiful. We worked with the Lowe's in Macedon, NY and were thrilled with the customer service and final product. Our farmhouse bathroom makeover is even prettier than I imagined.
